I am studying to be a cultural producer at Turku University of Humanities with a part-time programme and I completed my marketing internship in content production for Wannado marketing. I had experience in the field even before I started my internship, as I started about three years ago to update my own social media with a goal and plan. Last fall, I also started a planned content production on TikTok. I strive to be constantly informed about what kind of content resonates with my target audience and what to publish next. I have had great partners and been able to attend wonderful events thanks to successful content production.
During my internship, I thought a lot about which direction I want to take my life and career. I had been dreaming of a career in content production and marketing for some time, and the idea of a warm change intrigued me. When I went abroad on my own to train, I gained confirmation of my dreams. I found that I really wanted to develop my skills in marketing. I also became more confident in my own abilities and self-ability. During my training, I found my own strengths in work and other everyday life, but also those things that I still want to develop.
On March 1, I started my internship at Wannado in the Fuengirola office. The excitement of starting training soon faded as I discovered the Wannadoans were a super nice and relaxed bunch. Soon I also realized that the training was better than I could have imagined. I was able to influence the working hours myself and hope for what I would like to learn.
Because I wanted to learn as much as possible, I chose tasks that I would not normally be able to practice in everyday life. Now I would get guidance to learn new things and have plenty of time to practice them at my own pace.
During my internship, I was able to do diverse tasks in Wannado marketing, such as brainstorming and publishing something to different channels, replenishing the image bank and illustrating marketing with various tools. In addition, I have learned a lot about AI tools and Adobe programs, among other things. I also got to participate in client projects for content production and website updating. For example, I made templates and videos with Canva, as well as various tasks on the WordPress platform. During my internship, I gained a lot of new perspectives and lessons about the content production of the company and, whenever necessary, I received professional guidance for my work tasks.
The best thing about the training was its flexibility and relaxed working atmosphere. In the middle of the working day, I could go to the beach for walks or to eat. I enjoy a lot of outdoor activities in Spain and after work I did day trips to nearby cities. I have had time to visit Marbella, Mijas, Ronda, Málaga and Benalmádena, for example. In Spain I lived more in the moment and everyday life was full of fun things to do.
Throughout my training in Spain we had excellent weather, the temperature remained at 20 degrees and I could also accommodate a few hot days closer to 30 degrees. I have noticed that warm and sunny weather has a very positive effect on my well-being and well-being. The good weather also makes you want to spend a lot of time outdoors and relax in the sun. Better well-being in everyday life is also definitely reflected in work life as creativity and work motivation.
Fuengirola's large Finnish community made it possible to get to know other people who work here, and I made new wonderful friends. From my own experience, Finns who work here in Spain like one another and are nice to each other. I also feel that Finns in Spain get to know each other more easily. A passion for travel and living abroad automatically brings talking points and connecting factors.
Everyday life in Spain made me dream of moving abroad even more. Although, on the other hand, it is nice to return home to Finland for the summer with family, friends and hobbies.
It was easy to start working abroad in a Finnish company, as I got the opportunity to practice language skills at a low threshold. While living in Spain, I was able to develop everyday English, but I have also learned the basics of Spanish and practiced them, for example, when I was shopping. In addition, I have had the opportunity to develop better English skills at work, for example with translations of blog texts.
